First of all, we need to admit that even if Prague is a cosmopolitan and international place with a lot of tourists and foreign communities from all over the world, and their influence on the food culture is clearly present, no one would think that this beautiful city is playing such a strong role in the ramen league. We have dedicated the last cca. 3-4 months of discovering the best ramen places in Prague.

We need to admit that we haven’t found any place where the ramen was below average. Of course, we have also found our favorite spots that we would like to go back to since then, and still now if we hear about any newly opened place, we kind of run to taste them. There are many places and this list is made based on some personal preferences, and very much incomplete. If we miss your favorite spot, please don’t hesitate to comment and share it with us!

What is a Ramen?

Ramen is Japanese noodles with a broth originally from China. Their name comes from the word la mien, which is the name of a specific type of wheat noodle that is made from finely ground flour and alkaline water. The noodles should be springy and rubbery, cooked “to the bite”. Every ramen chef cooks them a little differently, there are thousands of different versions. The ramen is eaten very hot and so that the noodles do not boil in it, it is eaten very quickly. At the same time, it is permissible to sip loudly so that you get some of the broth in your mouth along with the noodles and you don’t burn yourself. Ramen has become a popular and beloved dish worldwide, with various regional styles and adaptations. There are different types of ramen, including:

  1. Shoyu Ramen: A soy sauce-based broth.
  2. Miso Ramen: A broth flavored with fermented soybean paste (miso).
  3. Shio Ramen: A salt-flavored broth.
  4. Tonkotsu Ramen: A broth made from pork bones, resulting in a rich and creamy soup.

In addition to the variety in broths, ramen noodles can also vary in thickness and texture, and toppings can include a range of ingredients to suit different tastes. Ramen is often considered a comforting and satisfying meal, and its popularity has led to the opening of many ramen shops and restaurants around the world. Each region, and even each restaurant, may have its own unique take on this classic Japanese dish.

Kitchen Ramen Bar

The Kitchen Ramen Bar is part of The Address Idea, a concept developed by Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur Eugenio Bramerini, whose denim, and punk rock wares have reportedly been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and her backup dancers. The Ramen bar is focused on traditional Japanese Ramen soup everything related to this gastronomic culture. There, Soba, Udon, Calpis, Yakisoba, Gyoza, and much more. In the beverage menu, you can choose homemade lemonade, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, but also a wide selection of Sake, and Japanese beers. The Address Idea team looking forward to your visit.

Among all places, Kitchen Ramen Bar was our favorite. Their soups are super tasty and full of yummy ingredients. The service as well superb and the atmosphere of the place is nice, and it is super spacious. The location is also priceless, right in the heart of the city, at Mustek metro station.

BON Fresh Ramen & Soba

BON Prague started as a small cozy restaurant at Náměstí Míru. They have successfully opened a second restaurant at Letenské náměstí and even a third one at Anděl in the year 2021. The BON team is incredibly happy to be able to offer authentic Japanese cuisine in almost the whole of Prague. They rely on freshly made Ramen, Soba, and Udon noodles made from well-selected ingredients.

We have visited their restaurant at Anděl. The place has several tables but it was full, which is always a good sign. It’s worth having a reservation upfront during lunchtime, especially on weekends. Besides two ramen, we also tasted their Gyoza, all were delicious. The location is ideal, close to the Metro Anděl, and easy to approach.

Miska Ramen Bar

Miska Ramen Bar was originally founded by two friends and cooking enthusiasts who love Asian cuisine. They learned to cook at the Miyajima Ramen School in Osaka, Japan. After the Covid epidemic and two lockdowns, the company was handed over to experienced colleagues and professional chefs originally from China, who for many years cooked ramen, among other things. Their goal is to cook original, authentic, and honestly cooked ramen. Quality, taste, and a good atmosphere are paramount.

The service is fast and the ramen is really one of the best ones in Prague! The Ramen Bar is tiny, but surprisingly can fit many people. No matter what, it is worth having a reservation in advance. They are located just right next to the National Museum of Prague,

Galerie Butovice Ramen House

A small Japanese bistro that offers not only the popular Japanese specialty ramen but other noodles as well. This Ramen House is located in the Galerie Butovice Shopping Mall, on the first floor. It misses the authentic Japanese atmosphere, as we need to eat our ramen at the food court shared with other restaurants. But their prices are much lower than the competition, and anyhow the portions are big enough and the soups are perfect to warm us up on a busy working day.

Taiko Ramen Bar

Taiko is located in Karlín, on Husitská 63, Praha 3. The place is open from Monday till Sunday, from 11.30 – 22.00 in the evening. It’s worth having a reservation upfront, you can book a table on the following number: +420 776 548 384. Taiko has only 5-star reviews on Tripadvisor, which says a lot about the quality of the food and the experience at the place. Taiko also has a pop-up store at Manifesto Market in Andel. It is lovely there, with all the atmosphere that Manifesto offers combined with the tastes of Taiko. Worth visiting it too!

Ramencraft Bar

The newest player in town and immediately aiming to be among the best ones. The place has a modern Japanese style, the crew is very friendly, and the place has several tables to sit down. You can find it in the heart of the city, just next to the Municipal Library. You can also order ramen for take away – directly on their website.
