Lisbon’s Wonderland is inspired by London’s Winter Wonderland. It’s is definitely the biggest and the best Christmas market in Lisbon. It opens its gates on the 1st of December and stays till 1st of January. If you are in the mood of Christmas spirit, lights, flavours, and scents, this is your place!

How to get to Wonderland

We can find the market in Eduardo VII Park. It is a strategic location and accessible from many directions all over Lisbon. The easiest is to arrive either by Uber, or via metro. It is located near the metro station of Marquês de Pombal and Parque. If you anyhow decide to come by your own car, it’s good to know that there is a huger garage underground.

Entrance ticket & prices

The entrance is for free. However the prices inside are very expensive. Be prepared, they are rather adjusted to touristy prices than for locals. For your reference, for two hot wines we paid 13 EUR. A simple durum is 10 EUR. If you go with kids, and plan to have some hot chocolates, snacks, or maybe even dinner there, you may be surprised how much you’d pay in the end.

Opening hours

The market is open from Monday till Thursday from 12 am to 8 pm. On weekends from 10 am to 10 pm. Once it’s dark outside, the market gets more popular and it’s more likely that you need to queue to get in.

Safety measures at Wonderland

The market has three red entrance gates, with big Wonderland Lisboa signs. You cannot really miss them. At each gate there is control. Regardless you don’t need to queue for tickets, as the entrance is for free, you need to wait for the security control. You need to show your COVID-19 vaccination code, or a negative test, if you are not with vaccine. Without these certificates you cannot enter. Inside, even though you are at an open air space, it is mandatory to wear mask all the time. This information is from 12.12.2021.

Is it worth it?

As Christmas markets all over the world, Wonderland Lisboa as well has a festive and irresistible atmosphere. The ferris wheel is there to offer spectacular views over the city, alongside an ice rink to enjoy skating. Children can give their letters to Santa Claus, or take a selfie with a reindeer. Families can go for a night of ice-skating while holding some cotton candy.

Along the tree alley, the 57 lined wooden stalls offer local products, or delivered and made by local suppliers. From clothes, accessories and handcrafted jewellery by local designers to homeware and local gourmandises, such as liqueurs, pastries, and jams. There it is hard to resist to the tempting Christmas scents in the air, from cinnamon and chocolate waffles, hot wine, and even popcorn. The hardest will be to choose which treat to get at the best Christmas market in Lisbon.
